Postcards

The back of the postcard with a message for Mr Mark Scott. Detailed description below.

Postcard description

On the front is the text, ‘It’s as easy as ABC’, the ‘ABC’ in the same font as the audio description symbol, with three curved, wave-like lines after the ‘C’ pointing to the right.

On the back is the end to the sentence on the front, ‘…to keep AD going for me’, the AD represented as the symbol for audio description. Below it, the following message to ABC Managing Director, Mark Scott:

Dear Mr Scott,

The audio description service you are delivering on the ABC is fantastic. I have waited years to be able to view your great programming just like everyone else. So I am asking you, please don’t take it away from me, over 600,000 Australians who are blind or vision impaired and the many others who benefit from audio description.

After all, it is our ABC too.

Regards,

Below this text in the bottom left corner is space for a name and signature. Address details are included on the right of the postcards, underneath it, the text:

A joint initiative of Blind Citizens Australia, Vision Australia and Australian Communications Consumer Action Network. www.audiodescription.com.au

The second postcard is identical to the first; however it is addressed to Minister for Broadband Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, with the message:

Dear Senator Conroy,

I have waited years to be able to watch TV just like everyone else and the audio description service you are providing on the ABC has finally made this dream become a reality. Please keep this service switched on for me, over 600,000 Australians who are blind and vision impaired and the many others who benefit from audio description.

After all, it is our ABC too.

Regards,
